This webinar on ‘IPR in the ASEAN region’ discussed the importance of due diligence, as well as safeguards that SMEs can adopt to protect against IP risks when contracting with third parties in the ASEAN region.

The webinar was presented by Nick Redfearn. Nick has worked with Rouse for over ten years in London, China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Dubai, setting up offices in Thailand and the Philippines as well as running the Hong Kong and Guangzhou offices for a time. He now manages Rouse’s Indonesia business and is also Chairman of the Rouse Board of Directors, co-head of the firm’s client development team and has a regional Asian business

15 December 2015 - IP Protection Strategies for EU SMEs from the Pharma Sector in the Philippines

In recent years, the Philippines has made continual improvements to its IPR regime and enforcement mechanisms in light of thriving EU-Philippine trade in IPR-heavy industries such as integrated circuits and machinery. The pharma sector is one key field for European SMEs doing business in the Philippines. To protect profit margins and make the most of the Philippines’ growth opportunities, there are some specific considerations EU SMEs from the pharma sector should keep in mind when designing a successful intellectual property protection strategy. Thailand is the EU's third largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) (behind only Singapore and Malaysia) and 25th overall.
