Name: Simon Cheetham

Simon Cheetham is the Team Leader of the ASEAN IPR SME Helpdesk. He is an ASEAN IPR Enforcement expert with over 30 years' experience in commercial investigations, due diligence and IPR enforcement in South-East Asia and internationally. He has lived and worked in China and South-East Asia for over 17 years. He is also the Managing Director of ERINYES INTERNATIONAL LTD, a firm he founded to capitalise on his extensive experience of international investigations, loss prevention and enforcement work. He manages and directs the operations of the Company from Europe to the Far East.

Simon began his career with the Hong Kong Police, where he was responsible for the detection and prosecution of a wide variety of crimes. While in South-East Asia Simon was Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce IP Committee. He has lectured frequently around the world on security issues and IPR and has served as a short-term expert at ASEAN Seminar in Singapore and a speaker on the topic of Famous Marks and IP protection between borders within ASEAN. He is fluent in English and Cantonese.

Over a continuous presence of 25 years, Philippe Girard-Foley has helped many European companies protect and defend their IP rights and establish a successful business in Asia, through direct investment, partnership, distributorship, agency, franchising or otherwise. He is a regular speaker at events focusing on ASEAN matters, and has authored several publications on ASEAN IP laws, including a regular column in a LexisNexis IP magazine.

Philippe Girard-Foley has received both a civil law and common law education (Paris Sorbonne, Paris Institute of Political Sciences, University of Pennsylvania Law School) and is a member of the Paris Bar from France as well as an associate member of the Victoria Law Institute from Australia.

After cooperating with major Intellectual Property law firms in Italy advising clients in IP issues also in South East Asia countries, Davide Follador relocated to China in 2011 and is currently in charge of the China Desk of Franzosi, Dal Negro Setti Law Firm, based in Beijing and operating in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and India through a long established network of IPR specialised firms.

Follador specialises in EU-Asia intellectual property law. He is a frequent speaker and tutor on the topic of IPR in China and abroad and has 10 years' experience in handling IPR legal issues. He gives legal advice to EU companies about patents, trade marks, geographical indications, copyrights, unfair competition, licensing and online IPR. Follador is author of publications on Harvard Press, China IP Magazine, INTA Bulletin and many others.
