A contingent of European companies specialising in Healthcare and Medical Technologies will travel to Singapore and Vietnam on a business mission to explore collaborations with local partners. The business mission will first arrive in Singapore for a day of Market Insights presentations and pre-arranged business meetings, before flying to Ho Chi Minh City for Vietnam Medi-Pharm Expo 2019.
The increase in demand for healthcare and medical technologies in South East Asia is driven by rising affluence, changes in the public healthcare schemes, aging populations and the increase in chronic diseases.
The medical technology (medtech) sector is expected to grow from US$88 billion (S$120 billion) in 2015 to US$133 billion in 2020 in Asia Pacific, and Singapore is "well-positioned" to act as a gateway to tap the market in the region. Singapore expenditure for elderly and assistive technology is projected to grow 4.5 folds from 2015 to 2030.
According to World Bank's recent market research, Vietnam's health care market is forecasted to grow threefold since 2010 and will soon surpass regional countries like Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
