The patent roving seminar is being organised in cooperation with the European Patent Office (EPO) and the IP Key SEA project, will cover Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The activity aims to raise awareness among EU businesses in the target countries on the respective national patent protection systems, to enable them to more effectively protect their inventions in these countries. It also aims to raise awareness among SEA businesses on EU and international best practices and standards on patent protection, including on specific technical fields or particular industry/sector issues, such as patent protection for computer-implemented inventions, artificial intelligence, internet of things technologies, and industrial revolution 4.0. The activity is moreover expected to provide an opportunity to promote European and Southeast Asian co-operation initiatives in the field of patents, such as validation agreements, reinforced partnership, and the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH).
