Event Description:

ASEAN, is the world’s fastest growing single market and in just 10 years’ time, ASEAN is predicted to be the world’s 4th largest economy. ASEAN’s has a young and dynamic 622 million consumer market, has a burgeoning middle class with rising incomes and total consumer expenditure of US$1.5 trillion. Economic integration is progressively improving with the with the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) now in place, improving the ease of doing trade throughout the region.

Innovate ASEAN is designed to explore the unique potential that technology and innovation can bring to Southeast Asia during a time of rapid growth and transition, creating opportunities and solutions.

Expert Bios

 

Rebecca is a dual-qualified intellectual property solicitor and registered trade mark attorney. She covers all aspects of intellectual property including portfolio management, commercialisation and exploitation. Rebecca is listed as a Notable practitioner by Chambers & Partners and is a Recommend Lawyer in Legal 500.

 

Rebecca has considerable experience in managing international IP portfolios including clearance, registration and exploitation and has an excellent understanding of intellectual property issues in Asia having worked in Vietnam and managed anti-counterfeiting actions and portfolio work for international brand owners there. As one of the founding partners of Sipara, Rebecca is a hands-on client partner managing a team of Senior Associates, Associates and Paralegals to ensure the firm’s clients receive a first class total IP service. The UK regulator of patent and trade mark attorneys, the Intellectual Property Regulation Board (IPReg), recently appointed Rebecca to the IPReg’s Disciplinary Panel. Rebecca is on The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys’ Publications & Communications Committee and the Website (public facing content) Working Group. Rebecca has particular expertise in design law and has spoken at international conferences on this area. Rebecca joined the Helpdesk network in January 2014.
